I would like to welcome you to talk about the
International Women's Day (=IWD)
which was first celebrated on 28th of February 1909 in New York. In 1915 the IWD was changed to March 8th. Since then it has always been celebrate on March 8th and in strikes, protests, demonstrations, marches and events, which shall point out women's miserable and unfair living conditions worldwide, has started spreading out all over the globe.

Some queries to think about and discuss:
- Still in 2016 a very special day, but why is it necessary to pledge for parity?
- Have there already been enough changes for parity over the centuries or is it just the start of a new women's aera, what do you think?
- Did you celebrate? Why? What does it mean to you to join IWD celebrations?
- Do you think it is necessary to create an "Internations Men's Day"? Funnily enough, there is one on Feb 7th - for gender balance - or more?
- Is there something, which needs to be done to keep the wheel turning for changes and social improvements for women and their status?
- Is IWD a source of radical feminism and did it provide wild-eyed thoughts?

Did you know?
Since 1996 each year the IWD was dedicated to a special theme: see this list!

Which of these themes have been fully implemented and can be believed as carried out - or does paper not blush?
This page provides plenty of interesting information about marriage & divorce trends in the US. It's worth having a look at the statistics.
