Punishment

The world is on fire and in big troubles - it seems so every day when you listen to the news. The gap between the rich and the poor seems getting bigger every day and the powerful harm those who cannot raise their voice. This world appears so unfair, so cruel, so inhumane, doesn't it? Those who can, pay a ransom for their freedom, those who can't get punished. Can every offence be punished in a fair way? What does fairness and equity mean?

This raises the question of punishment in the 20th century: What will happen to those who harm the innocent?

Is there a fair punishment?

How and what should be punished.

What means "fair" in the context of punishment?

What is punishment actually? http://www.enchantedlearning.com/wordlist/

Does it really make sense to punish someone?

What can punishment lead to?

Worried people, who fear a dramatic rise of terrorism in Europe, expect harder punishment for terrorists. What kind of punishment would be suitbable?

In such a cruel age, can punishment be the only answer to terrorism?

Are there any less violent alternatives which could lead to a better and non-violent world?

People who are disappointed by court sometimes decide to do vigilantism, which is a big problem in many countries in the world. Now listen to this interview about vigilantism: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKota_BYCUY

This time I prefer to avoid displaying shocking pictures. If you still want to gain more information concerning this issue, just check out these youtube links:
